Do you know what it does, or if it will help you? Contemplate before you buy...
More often than not, consumers have a tendency to immediately purchase anything that addresses what most individuals refer to as a "need", but can more frequently be classified as a "want." With the holiday season in full effect, and with my recent observations of unnecessary software/hardware purchases, I'd like to emphasize a golden rule for anyone considering any type of purchase: If you don't (exactly) know what it is you want, need, or plan to buy, then don't buy it.

Yes, this is (or at least should be) common sense to most consumers. Unfortunately, many shoppers get coaxed or conned into an entirely unnecessary purchase to address their "needs." Electronics Super Stores, such as Best Buy or Circuit City, are notorious for implying unmet, though non-existent, needs, which inevitably leads to more revenue in their pocket and a little less in yours...

Don't be duped this holiday season just because there's a new PDA, SmartPhone, gaming console, or other gadget that might simplify or enhance your life. Contemplate any and all purchases, big and small, to make certain it's something you can (or want to) actually utilize. Also stay focused on the potential of post-Christmas sales that may save you bundles, both in cash and headaches. Yeah, this article isn't exactly tech-related, but seeing recent, unnecessary purchases has motivated me to make a short announcement. Have a great Christmas & Holiday Season!
